Jakara Humphrey

I became a UAW member in 2004 and I am a 4 th generation UAW member and General Motors Employee. I transferred to UAW Local 31 in 2009 after having been a member of UAW Local 659, Pontiac Stamping; UAW Local 1292 Stamping; UAW Local 651 Delphi; and UAW Local 5960, Orion Assembly. I was elected Recording Secretary at UAW Local 31 for three (3) consecutive terms and elected Alternate Delegate for the 38th UAW Constitutional Convention and Bargaining Convention, respectively. I enjoy serving the membership. One of my personal goals is to educate the members and encourage professional development to expand and explore their options and interests. I have a strong work ethic and commitment to excellence. I believe communication is key to success. I am task and process - oriented. I am a trailblazer, always focused on legacy, leaving the place(s) I have been better than when I found them, being an example for those who succeed me. I have a particular interest in Women’s Issues and Equality. My education includes: a graduate of Johnson County Community College having attained General Science Degrees in Accounting AAS; Business Management AAS; Interior Design AAS; Interior Design Marketing and Management AAS: Interior Design Kitchen and Bath AAS. I am currently enrolled at Walsh University in the Bachelor’s and Master’s Accounting Program. Always striving for excellence as I graduated Magna Cum Laude. I enjoy time with family, friends, and church. I also enjoy interior design work. I believe my strong conviction to empowerment and encouragement through education, will serve UAW Local 31.
