SATURDAY: Oshkosh Defense Workers, Elected Leaders to Rally Demanding Good Union Jobs for Wisconsin Families Oshkosh Defense slashed hometown jobs in half since 2012 Workers urge company to build USPS vehicles in Wisconsin, create 1,000 local jobs OSHKOSH, WI — Joined by community members and elected leaders outraged by the loss of local jobs, Oshkosh Defense workers with the United Automobile Workers (UAW) Local 578 will rally Saturday at the corporation’s massive headquarters calling for a major investment in good union jobs for Fox Valley families.
(Maumee) – At a special regional leadership meeting Thursday, Rich Rankin was elected to fill out the remaining term as Regional Director of the UAWs Indiana and Ohio membership. Rankin succeeds Ken Lortz who retired on May 31.

Most taxpayers want their tax dollars spent on American-made goods and services. Democrats and Republicans alike share this patriotic “fair trade” value that our government should spend our money at home – whether it’s state and municipal contracts or big federal infrastructure investments.

When UAW President Dennis Williams took over as president at the 2014 convention, he made it clear that Big 3 Contracts now on the UAW Appone of the things he wanted his administration to focus on was communicating with rank-and-file UAW members and meeting members where they were at.

(Jackson, Mississippi) – Citing his commitment to worker safety and labor rights, the Mississippi UAW CAP Council has endorsed Chokwe A. Lumumba for mayor of Jackson.

“The citizens of Jackson have an opportunity to elect a mayor in Chokwe A. Lumumba who understands that labor rights are civil rights and that raising the wages, health and safety and labor standards of all workers builds the economy of Jackson,” said Ray Curry, director of UAW Region 8.

Our UAW members perform some of the most fascinating jobs, but sometimes it surprises us to learn that our members do that!? At the Potter Park Zoo in Lansing, Michigan, members from UAW Region 1D, Local 2256 are zookeepers working with some of the world’s most beautiful – and deadly – animals.
